Ray Scannell, 35, of Barrington passed away suddenly November 6, 2021 in Rolling Meadows. He was born May 30, 1986 in Elmhurst.
Ray was a friend to his parents, his siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, coworkers, lifelong friends, and to everyone he would meet. He had a deep love for his family and for all children and they loved him back. He had an infectious sense of humor that filled a room with laughter. Ray was proud of his career, his coworkers and his family’s achievements but he refused credit for his own accomplishments, instead giving the credit to others.
Ray enjoyed walking, reading, sports, the company of family and friends and his contribution to Egg Harbor. And he was a writer who could crisply paint a tangible picture with the shortest sentence. It is now for poorer talents to describe how unbearably he is missed.
Ray is survived by his mother, Nancy (Harry) Young; brother, Luke Scannell; step siblings, Harry R. (JoEllen), Allison, Greg (Alissa), and Meredith (Olivier Theoret-Pilon) Young; nieces and nephew, Siddalee, Ellaree, Lorelai, and Harry G.
Visitation will be 4-8pm, Wednesday, November 17 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake Cook Road), Barrington. The funeral service will be held at 10am, Thursday, November 18 at the funeral home followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
