Born September 7, 1934 in Chicago to Raymond Samuel and Josephine Christina (nee Giacinto) Anderson, Raymond passed away with his loving family at his side on January 21, 2017 at the age of 82.
Raymond was united in marriage to Marion Lynn on May 18, 1957 in Barrington. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War from 1952-1955. He was awarded the Meritorious Mast for his courageous service. From 1965 until 1999, Ray was employed as a Manufacturing Engineer at Indak Manufacturing Corp. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, archery, and vacationing with family. Mostly, Ray enjoyed his role as a husband, father, grandfather “Poppy”, and uncle.
In addition to his loving wife, Marion, he is survived by his beloved son, Jim (Leanne) Anderson; his cherished granddaughters, Jamie, Marlee, and Trinity; his sisters-in-law, Lois Ryan, and Gertrude Randall; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sam and Heinz; and sister-in-law, Trudy.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rte 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
