Tower Lakes, Illinois,He was born April 16, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio, he passed away on May 6, 2010 at Sunrise of Barrington. He began working for Allstate Insurance Company in 1952 as a claims adjuster. He worked his way through the ranks with positions including Sales Manager, President of Allstate Canada, and President of Allstate Life Insurance before retiring in 1992 with this last title. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and, later, in the Korean War. A member of Lutheran Church of the Atonement, he enjoyed golfing, and loved his family and his work. He served on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Social Services in lllinois and the Board of Directors of the Marrow Foundation. Survivors include his beloved wife, Eleanor M. ""Lynn"" Kiefer (nee Harrison), whom he married on June 28, 1947 in Toledo; loving daughter Deborah (Roger) Kelly of Barrington; cherished grandchildren Maegan Johnson of Chicago, Christopher Johnson of Barrington, and Kimberly (Joseph) Somodji of Round Lake; and dearest great grandchildren Scarlett, Olivia, and Kaydan.
