Raymond Wilke

Raymond A. Wilke, of Barrington, IL, cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on October 11, 2016.
Ray was born May 15, 1926, the son of Albert and Rose Wilke of Chicago, IL. Ray served as a second lieutenant in the US Army and was a member of the occupation forces in Japan at the end of WWII. Upon his return from service, Ray completed his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology, earning an MBA in addition to his professional engineer certificate. Ray then began work as an engineer with Amoco Oil Company. He served his entire career with Amoco, a career that took him and his family to many countries around the world.

Ray married Betty Jean Cook on November 3, 1956, and they shared sixty years together. Ray is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Carol (Tracy) Wilke of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kurt (Beth) Wilke of Springfield, IL, Susie (Jim) Allison of Palatine, IL, grandchildren Laura Allison of Chicago, IL, Brian (Laney) Wilke of Nashville, TN, Dave Allison of St. Paul, MN, and Kate Wilke of Nashville, TN, sister Lorraine Bahde of Lincolnshire, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walter Wilke.

Throughout his life, Ray gave generously of his time to many civic and charitable causes, including over five years as a volunteer with Journey Care hospice services.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 10:30 am at Lutheran Church of Atonement, 909 E. Main St., Barrington, IL 60010, with Rev. Don Wink officiating.
