Rebecca (Becky) Lee Gibson (Thompson), 65, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born on September 1, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Bob and Thelma Thompson (Hansen). Becky graduated from Wheeling High School in 1976, then went on to study at Taylor University, earning a degree in Education. Becky married Scott Gibson on August 7, 1982 in Arlington Heights, IL and went on to have three sons, Nathan (Nate), Brett, and Kurt.
Becky worked as a 1st Grade Teacher at Isaac Fox Elementary in Lake Zurich for 20+ years, where she inspired young minds and met some of her closest friends. In 2024, Becky retired and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren, Ada and Wesley, who absolutely adored her. Becky also loved daily walks with her two border terriers, Scout and Pip.
Preceding Becky in death are her grandparents, her father, Bob Thompson, and her sister, Sue Dueck.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Gibson; her children, Nate Gibson (Danny), Brett Gibson, and Kurt Gibson (Allison); her mother, Thelma Thompson; her sister, Ca Wilke (Don); her grandchildren, Ada Gibson and Wesley Gibson; 16 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Heritage Church in Lake Zurich on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The family will greet friends from 9:00 to 10:30 AM and a memorial service will immediately follow at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sarcoma Foundation of America.
Her legacy will live on in how she taught us to love each other and be present in each moment.
