Rev. Ronald R. Petersen, 68, of Crystal Lake passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 at Crossroads Care Center in Woodstock, IL. He was born November 18, 1946, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Chester and Roberta (Daniels) Petersen.
On November 2, 1974, he married Jacqueline Robinson in Lafayette, IN. He was a graduate of Grosse Pointe High School, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. He received a B.A. in Humanities from Phillips University, Enid, OK in 1970 and a M.Div. from Northern Seminary, Lomabard, IL in 2005.
For many years he owned his own business, Historical Services, reproducing military clothing and hats from the 18th and early 19th centuries. He also served as a consultant to museums in American military history. After graduating from seminary in 2005, he was appointed by the United Methodist Church to serve as a pastor for churches in Wyanet, Malden, Ringwood and Mount Hope in Johnsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie; children, Robin (fiancé Sam Pergola) and Michael (Kelly); and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at First United Methodist Church, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake.
