Richard D. Coulon “Dick”, 82, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Skokie, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Barrington. He was born May 25, 1935 in Chicago to Eugene and Ann (nee Hutchison) Coulon.
He married Marilyn Vetter on November 18, 1961 and was a devoted husband and caring father of three children and seven grandchildren. Richard was a man of deep faith and a devout Roman Catholic. He was a selfless, genuine man, who always had a twinkle in his eye and had a focus and purpose-driven life. His family would say he was the original Energizer Bunny. He was a loyal, hard worker as a telephone installer for Illinois Bell and AT&T for 35 years. Dick was a sports enthusiast and loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Chicago White Sox. He was the number one super fan to his children and grandchildren. You could always find him on the bench or in the crowd at every sporting event or concert with a smile on his face, beaming with pride! He was an avid gardener and loved to pass along tomatoes from his garden to friends and family. Richard was a quiet person but made a great impact on so many people. He was a special man; to know him was to love him.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (nee Vetter) Coulon; his children, Terese (Tim) Thompson, Ann Marie (Tony) Cecchin, and Christopher Coulon; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kenny, and T.J. Thompson, Dan (Emma), Kathryn, and Christopher Cecchin, and Mae Coulon; and his brothers, George (Dolly) Coulon and Tom (Betty) Coulon.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Joe Coulon; and his parents.
