Richard Day

January 16, 1950 — April 9, 2017

Richard Charles “Dick” Day, 67, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 9, 2017.

Dick was one-of-a-kind. He loved making his wife Aimee laugh, inspiring his daughter Beth to try different adventures, and sharing stories with his grandchildren, Timmy and Charlotte. Dick was a loyal friend, a great entertainer, and happiest sitting in the stands at Camp Randall, cheering on his Badgers with Aimee.

Many passions filled Dick’s life that helped shape his character. As a child growing up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, he earned his Eagle Scout badge and spent hours in the pool, swimming for his high school team. Later, Dick served on the board of the Delta Upsilon Alumni Association to support the organization that had given him so much during college. He was a devoted member of the Crystal Lake Country Club in IL., promoting and carrying out many of its programs and efforts. Dick loved being on the golf course, slinging his clubs on his back walking alongside his buddies in Ireland.

In his professional life, Dick worked for the West Bend Company for over 30 years. He covered sales territories, moving with Aimee from North Carolina, to Texas, Georgia, and finally, Illinois, as Director of National Accounts for the company.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Aimee (nee Pearce); daughter Beth (Tim) Lawrence; grandchildren, Timmy and Charlotte Lawrence; brother, Gordon F. Jr. (Constance) Day; nieces, Elizabeth (Chris) Casey and Lindsey Day; great-nephews, Andrew and Gavin Casey. Many loving relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon F. Day Sr. and Mary Ann Day.
