Richard “Dick” Glantz, 89

Born June 2, 1922 in Burlington, Iowa, he passed away peacefully March 13, 2012 in Barrington.

Dick was employed at the Quaker Oats Company for 44 years and held various senior management positions.  His career included positions in Pekin, IL, Cedar Rapids, IA, Elizabeth, NJ, and Chicago.

After retirement Dick was Chairman of the Board of the American Humane Society.  He also developed a passion for horse racing, both as an “investor” and owner for over 20 years, and spent many an afternoon at Arlington Park after enjoying a morning round of golf.  He served on the Board of Barrington Hills Country Club and Mariner Sands CC in Stuart, FL.

Dick was the beloved husband for 64 years of Billie (nee Morris), loving father of Martha and David (Ginger) Glantz, dear grandfather of Michael (Courtney), Becky, Carolyn, and Molly, great-grandfather of Logan, and brother of Doris (late Bert) Offner. 

He was preceded in death by his parents David and Pearl (nee Eklund) Glantz, and his brother Warren Glantz.

Memorial Visitation will be 1pm until the time of the memorial service at 3pm Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St, Barrington, IL.  Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St, Barrington, IL.
