Richard Kostner

Richard P. Kostner, Sr., 84, passed away May 17, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born February 5, 1932 in Sharon, Wisconsin, the son of Nicholas and Alta (nee Green) Kostner (Kostkiewicz). Richard was a graduate of Crystal Lake Community High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Beverly Dogoda on May 19, 1956, and together they had five sons.

Richard was the proud owner of Grove Plating Company Inc. in Fox River Grove since 1956. He was very involved and generous with his time and talents in the Fox River Grove Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and neighborhood and community projects. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and was a very talented intarsia woodworker.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; sons, John, Rick (Shelly), and Robert; grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan; sister Noretta (Gordon Kamholz); brother, Jim (Eunice); sister in law, Diane; his precious pup Missy; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Ken and Bill; and brothers, Lloyd and Raymond.

Visitation will be held from 3pm until 8pm, Sunday, May 22 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 11am, Monday, May 23, at the funeral home. There will be visitation Monday from 10am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
