Richard D. Ormsby, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 15, 2022.
Known by family and friends as (Dick), he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Richard graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1959. He was a third generation owner of Ormsby Motors in Crystal Lake, IL. Richard’s passion was being at Ormsby’s. He loved all of his customers, who quickly became as close as friends and family. He was a volunteer fireman for Crystal Lake Fire Department from 1971 – 1978. Richard was a lifelong sponsor of the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League and was also a member of the NADA (National Auto Dealers Association). He loved watching the Bears, Cubs, NASCAR and Mecum Auto Auction. Richard loved having family and friends over to his house in the summer to swim and spend time with him. Those who knew Dick would describe him as a kind, caring, loving, helpful and reliable person.
Preceded in death by his parents Dwight (Bud) and Evelyn Ormsby.
Richard is survived by his wife and love of his life, Sharon Kunz-Ormsby; his loving children, Tom (Stephanie) Ormsby, Stacy (Dave) Ormsby-Behrens, Marty (Nicole) Kunz, and Kim Kunz; eight grandchildren, Travis Ormsby, Molly (Christian) Hammerl, Grant Ormsby, Ethan Ormsby, Jake Behrens, Jared Behrens, Kendall Kunz, Karson Kunz; sister, Mary Lou Meier; niece, Conni (Jeff) Stinek; and nephew, Scott Meier.
A visitation for Richard will be held on Saturday January 29th from 11am until the time of services at 5:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 491 E. Terra Cotta Avenue Crystal Lake, IL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Association, 100 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
