Richard Sachsel

Richard J. Sachsel, 58 of Island Lake, was born in Chicago to the late Edward and Carol (nee Weichen) Sachsel, and passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017. Rick was the loving husband of Theresa Vargo; cherished father of Ricky Sachsel and Christina (Mike) Kastning; grandfather of Damien and Lilly; beloved brother of Michael, Claudia, Barbara and Debbie. He was a long-time member of the Chicago Wise Guys Match Race Circuit. His favorite pro-mod was a ’69 Camaro, aka the “Neighborhood Nuisance”. When Rick wasn’t racing, you could find him driving his Peterbilts. Rick tied the record for the Chevy Conventional Headed Door-Car Record, for 3.87 seconds at 195 mph. Rick will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet him.
