Richard A Whitesell

Richard A.Whitesell, 80, of Barrington, passed away on June 30, 2017.  He was born on December 13, 1936 in Punxsutawney, PA to Norman and Louelle (Hollenbaugh) Whitesell. Rick was united in marriage to Carol Mullins on April 14, 1993 in Arlington Heights; they celebrated 24 years of marriage.

Rick was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.  Rick was a mechanic for American Airlines and retired after 33 years of service. After Carol retired, they traveled in their motor home through the Northwest Territory, taking 3 months to enjoy the beautiful parks and scenery. Rick made many lasting friendships along the way. Rick liked to do woodworking (making beautiful things for family and friends) and his favorite thing was to Karaoke every chance he got.  Rick was generous of his time to others and loved his family dearly.  He will be greatly missed, leaving a big void in our hearts.

In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his daughter Tracy (James) Atlas, son Charles Whitesell, Kevin (Shelly) Mullins, Kerry (Matthew) O'Brien, Kelly (Robert) Johnson.  Grandchildren, Leyden and Cuyler Atlas, Connor, Katie and Megan Mullins, Dylan, Kylie and Declan O'Brien, Jack, Kara and Carter Johnson.  Sister-in-law Kay Whitesell, Phyllis (Joe) Fitzgerald, Kimberley Underwood, Brother-in-law Tom (Donna Jo) Ruscik.  And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Louella and brother Glade Whitesell.

Visitation will be, Friday, July 7 from 4 PM until 9 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 8 at 11 AM at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington with a visitation starting at 10 AM until time of mass. Interment will be private.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Alexian Brothers Hospice for their compassionate care for Rick and family.
