Richard T. Gadzinski 81, of McHenry, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, IL. Richard was born in Manitowoc, WI on Oct 28, 1941 to Thomas and Helen (DeFaut) Gadzinski. Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1959 till 1966 when Richard was honorably discharged. He was also a proud member of the Wolfhounds Tropic Lightning 25th Infantry Unit. On January 16, 1965 Richard married the love of his life Jacqueline Bending of Des Plaines, Il in Manitowoc, WI. Richard worked for Diamond Outdoor Advertising in Des Plaines Illinois for many years.
Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved traveling to Mexico to hunt duck. Taking fishing charters on Lake Michigan with his daughters, son-in-laws and friends. Hunting for deer in the UP of Michigan, Southern Illinois and South Dakota with family and friends. Richard was also a family man. For many years he was the only male in the house! Even the family dog was a girl. Surrounded by all women for many years he was happy to see his daughters marry great men. And to those great men he was a father figure they didn't have. He loved spending time with his son-in-laws, grandsons and great grandsons. When the girls were younger the family would spend summer vacations in Iron River, MI with family friends. He was also fond of his granddogs Nessa, Tater, Melody, Sebastian, Walter, Diva, Fiona, Kaiya and Smokey the cat.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline for 58 years. His daughters Cathleen (Ken) Major, Mylee (John) Kasdorf, Erica (Michael) Wieronski and April (Michael) Robinson. His grandchildren Kristin Gadzinski, Michaela (Erik) Burklund, Michael Kramer, Aric Wieronski, Ryan Wieronski (fiance Shannon), Erin Wieronski, Ean Kasdorf, Maximus Robinson, Becca (Casey) Tipton. His great-grandchildren Ethan, Ava, Chloe, Michael and Aria who will join us in August. One sister Joan Bush of Appleton, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was proceeded in death by his father Thomas Gadzinski, mother Helen Gadzinski-Rupp, stepfather Milton Rupp, infant sister Patsy, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and (James) Bialek, brother James Gadzinski, brother and sister-in-law Thomas (Karen) Gadzinski, brother-in-law Rob Bush and beloved grandson Jordan Soulak.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ryan and Shannon for taking such good care of Papa while he was at home. We couldn't have done it without you.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 10 AM until 12 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A graveside committal and military honors to follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, IL.
