Richard “Dick” McGill passed away peacefully July 11, 2022 in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 5, 1934 in Wisner, NE to Martin and Margaret McGill.
Dick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah (nee Laird); children, Colleen McGill Getz (Rob Getz), Richard (Mary) McGill, Michelle (Paul) Golko, and Brian (Deanna) McGill; grandchildren, Kelly Helmer, Kathryn “Katie” Helmer, Daniel McGill, Elizabeth “Ellie” Golko, Margaret “Maggie” Golko, Abby McGill, and Zach McGill; siblings-in-law, Margaret (late Gene) McTigue, Susan (late Mike) Kilroy, Pat (Jackie) Laird, Mike (Janet) Laird, Kevin (Sue) Laird, and Mary Jean McGill; and over 60 nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Helen (Art) Goodwater, Hugh (Margie) McGill, Martin (Mildred) McGill, Addie (Ray) Schmitz, Winnie (Al) Mainquist, Ed McGill, and Mary Ann (Jack) Major; and brother-in-law, Bill Laird.
Visitation will be 3-8pm Sunday July 17 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake, and from 9am until prayers at 9:30am Monday. July 18 at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am, Monday July 18 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Burial with military honors will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
