Richard "Dick" L. Zarek

Richard L. Zarek, 83 of Crystal Lake, Il. passed away peacefully on September 4, 2018 surrounded by his family. Richard was born and raised in Chicago, Il. on January 30, 1935 to Frank Zarek and Mary (Hepner) Zarek.

A 1953 graduate of Wells High School, Richard was a retired sales & advertising executive who won multiple awards throughout his long and successful career. In his leisure pursuits, Richard enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family, playing and coaching sports, was a member of the West Towns world champion barbershop chorus and a founding member of the Zarek family band. Richard will be remembered for his commitment to family, sense of humor and spirit of adventure.

Richard is survived by his wife, Helen of sixty three years, their six children, daughter Pamela Santos, and son-in law Reny Santos; son Richard C Zarek, daughter in law Sue Zarek; son Ronald, daughter in law Heather; daughter Diana, son in law Rich; son, Christopher, son in law Craig Morey and son Craig, grandchildren Amy (Eric), Timothy, Adam (Kelly), Joseph, Evan (Grace), Eric, Alex, Olivia,Calla, Bret, Brianna, Jacob and one soon to arrive great grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, September 7, 2018, from 3 PM until 9 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Avenue, Crystal Lake, Illinois, 60014. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcome and may be made to the Cary Park District Senior Center, 441 W. Main Street Cary, Illinois 60013.
