The Mass of Christian burial for Rita Mary Allen (nee Rice), 89, recently of Alpharetta, GA, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St. (at the corner of Franklin St.), Barrington, where there will be visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Father Tom Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
Born February 28, 1923, in Ottawa to the late Richard and Mary (nee Mooney) Rice, she passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Ivy Hall at St. Ives in Alpharetta.
Mrs. Allen was a longtime employee at the Jewel Tea Company in Barrington and, while living in Fort Myers, FL, worked as a greeter at Southwest Florida International Airport. Most importantly, Mrs. Allen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Barry) Tippey of Lexington, KY, Brian (Mary) Allen of Maple Park, Donald (Sheila) Allen of Berkeley Lake, GA, and Janet (Paul) Lebiecz of Cary, NC; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Ruth) Rice of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and siblings, Richard (Mary Lou) Rice and Dorothy Jean (William) McDonald.
