Born October 13, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to James and Regina (nee McConnell) Rodden, Rita passed away with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 89.
Rita was an avid bridge player and gardener. She loved to read and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra. Rita will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being with her family.
Rita is survived by her children, Robert (Diana) Roese, Jackie Robelia, Sharon (Jim) Jacobson, Carol (Greg) Alfus, Peggy (Peter) Anderson, Jim (Lisa) Roese, and Lisa (Evan) Lindstrand; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean Rodden of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sisters, Rosemary (Bill) Simmons and Eleanor (Bob) Shoenberger; and brother, James (Dolores) Rodden.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. the following day, Monday, May 4 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake.
