Robert Michael Amoroso, 83, passed away in Barrington IL on Wednesday March 4, 2020. He died peacefully at home with his daughter Pamela and Grandson Quin.
He was born to Michael and Genevieve Amoroso on March 30, 1936 in Chicago IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Judy of almost 60 years. He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Lane) Lucatorto, Pamela Amoroso, Janice (David) Kershaw and Michele Amoroso, his grandchildren Maitlyn Michaels, Kelsey (Ross) Walker, Quin Kershaw, Tyler Kershaw and his great granddaughter Ashlynn Michaels. Also surviving are his sister Beverly (John) Money and brother Michael (Carol) Amoroso.
Bob grew up in Chicago and had many lifelong friends, many stories to share and many wonderful memories. He went to Lane Tech H.S. where he played football.
With his trademark cigar in his earlier years, Bob looked tough but was really a teddy bear. A genuinely nice guy who'd do anything for you.
Music and singing were his biggest joys, especially in his later years. He would start every single day singing "Zippity Do Dah" as he got out of bed. "My oh my what a wonderful day" would set the tone for his days. He'd sing and dance along with everything from Motown and pop/rock to opera.
Bob was a small business owner and started fast food businesses in Chicago and later Mr. A's in Crystal Lake in 1968. His signature product was his homemade Italian beef.
Bob made sure his parents and brother were all involved in Mr. A's in the beginning. What started as a small shack on the corner was eventually expanded to a building with inside seating. His daughters all worked there at one time or another during summers or breaks from school.
Bob retired from Mr. A's several years back. His brother runs the business now, today, in it's 52nd year.
A long time Barrington resident, Bob enjoyed attending the many plays, concerts and sporting events that his children and grandchildren participated in. Bob was always outnumbered by "his girls," his four daughters and wife, but he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. Boating, water and snow skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling, concerts, cards or just hanging out at the big Sunday family dinners... he loved family time.
Bob was a generous loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was genuine, kindhearted and would hug you ever so tight. He always had a wink and a smile and we will miss him deeply.
