Robert Aquavia, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Geneva, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 in Sycamore at the age of 81.
He was born September 20, 1937 in Chicago, the son of the late James and Edith (nee Oliverio) Aquavia.
Robert proudly served in the US Army. He graduated with a Bachelor’s and later a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. For many years after college, Robert worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections as an educator. After retirement, he worked for Woodstock High School and the US Census.
He was a coach with the Tri-Cities Soccer Association for all of his daughters and helped develop the Geneva Community High School Soccer program and served as their coach for several years.
Robert ran 3 marathons and numerous half marathons. He also enjoyed summers at his cabin with his family, golfing and fishing.
In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Wilma (nee Horschke), he is survived by his daughters, Julie (Carl Marzolf) Aquavia, Suzanne (David) Froelich, Melissa (Mark) Gorham and Jennifer (Tom) Williams; his grandchildren, Quinn, Avery and Kiefer Marzolf, Eleanor, Madeline and Louis Froelich, Daniel and Alexander Musielski, Maxwell, William and Margaret Gorham, and Carolyn, Colin, Abigail and Alvalah Williams; and his siblings, James Aquavia and Geraldine Clausen.
Friends are welcome to visit with Robert’s family on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service and remembrances shared at 12 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the charity of your choice.
