Robert Bowles

Robert E. Bowles, 71, of Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at home. He was born May 5, 1943 in Quincy, IL.
Bob was a pilot for United Airlines. He was hired in July 1969 and retired as a 747 Captain in January of 2003. He flew the 737, 727, DC10 and 747-400.
Bob loved and participated in commercial and private aviation. He also built both an auto repair and home remodeling business. He played guitar, built furniture, and went to lunch with “the guys” regularly.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jane M. Held; son, Kelly M. Bowles of England; and grandson, Rhys E. Bowles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E., Sr. and Corrine L. Bowles.
There will be private memorial gathering at a later date.
