Robert F. Seegers, 85, was a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake. He was born November 8, 1932 in Crystal Lake to Christ and Helen (Luethje) Seegers. He passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 in McHenry.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was the founder of Seegers Grain circa 1958 and Allendale, Inc. in 1984. Bob was involved with many organizations throughout his life, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of McHenry County, Prairie Grove School Board, Cary Youth Baseball, and Crystal Lake Rural Fire Protection District for 43 years. Bob was a Director of Illinois Grain Feed Dealers Association and Committee person for the National Grain and Feed Assoc. and was Vice President of MCC Foundation. He was a lifelong member at Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served in many ministries. Bob was on the Board of Directors for First Colonial Bank and involved with the Agricultural Board at the University of Illinois. He enjoyed being a founding member of C.L. Snow Tigers Snowmobile Club and truly loved attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian; children, Susan Zbierski, Mark (Julie) Seegers, Russell (Cathy) Seegers, Robert Jr. (Jennifer) Seegers, and Phillip (Marianne) Seegers; grandchildren, Robert (Kate), Randy (Sarah), Ryan (Carrie), Christopher, Jannelle, Kyle (Whitney), Lauren, Brett, Cade, Kelsey, Blake, and Lucas; great grandchildren, Charlie, Effie, Olivia, Asher, Caleb, and Joanna; and all the beloved members of the Neumann families. He was preceded in death by his foster brothers, Arthur and Ernest Neumann.
Visitation will be 3-9pm, Tuesday, July 10 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake.
Funeral services will be at 11am, Wednesday July 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Historic Campus, 178 McHenry Avenue, Crystal Lake. Burial will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association (link below) or to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 S Pathway Ct, Crystal Lake IL 60014.
