Robert Stephan Hammershmidt

Robert Stephan Hammerschmidt, 69, of Cary, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, the 3rd of March, 2022.

Bob was born on September 12, 1952 at the US Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL to Elmer and Joan Hammerschmidt of Park Ridge, IL. He graduated from Maine Township High School South, Park Ridge, IL in 1971 and was married to Josephine in 1985 for 36 years.

Bob worked for several companies in the data processing/technology business and eventually became a long time owner/president of SERVPRO of Southern McHenry County, a franchise in the clean-up, restoration and construction business.

Bob loves football and watching the likes of Star Trek, Star Wars and James Bond movies and was also a passionate gamer playing a wild variety of games in the computer. Anyone who knew Bob knew that he was a force of nature, loving & goofy. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was very proud of his only child, Stephen who is now handling the business operations.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Joan Hammerschmidt and brother, Alan Hammerschmidt and is survived by his wife, Josephine Hammerschmidt,  son Stephen Hammerschmidt (Shane Hammerschmidt) and grandchildren: Leon and Ariel Hammerschmidt, sister; Lynn Dwiel and mother-in-law, Esther Ocampo.

Our family respects the wishes of Robert and will only be holding a prayer service amongst the immediate family. Though Robert was a private person, he was an important part of his community in McHenry County, IL and will be greatly missed.
