Robert J. Hourigan

Robert J. Hourigan, 91, of Barrington, IL passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018 with his family at his side.

Beloved husband of the late June for 53 years; loving father of Nancy, Dan (Trudy), Pat (Donna), Jim (JoAnn), Bob, Brian (Sally), and Dave (Mary); cherished grandfather of Nick (Leticia) Cvietkovich, Tim Saurmann, Maggie (Greg) Parkhill, Kelley, Kathleen, Allison (Siddharth), Matt (Cheyenne), Danny, Ryan, Robert, Jason (Candice), Brittney (Patrick), Travis, Shannon, Connor, and Colin; great-grandfather of Jimmy, Tommy, Karter, Bentley, Sammy and Ghily. He is also survived by his sister, Edna Allen and sister-in-law, Rose Hourigan.

Preceded in death by his wife, June; son, Patrick; parents, Fred and Pearl; brothers, James, Patrick and sister, Sally (Chuck) Febel.

Until his health failed, Bob was a regular at Villa Bleu in Fox River Grove, where he always had his wine glass filled to the rim. He loved golf, music, dogs, babies, playing cards and backgammon. Bob never drank water because "you know what fish do in water."

Bob was born in Chicago and educated through the Catholic school system – graduating from De La Salle High School, University of Notre Dame and Loyola Law School. He received scholarships and even skipped a grade. He was also valedictorian of his high school class. Bob was a Navy veteran. He went on to practice personal injury law in Chicago, eventually opening his own law firm.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, from 9:00am until the time of Mass at 11:00am, at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington. Interment is private.
