Robert Glen Lamphere, 85, of Bull Valley, Illinois, died peacefully on May 19, 2017. Bob was born on December 15, 1931, in Geneva, IL to Marian and Glen Lamphere. He attended Geneva High School where he excelled as an all-state athlete in football, basketball and track. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a football scholarship where he was a member of the 1953 Rose Bowl team and graduated with a degree in English in 1954. After graduation he served as an officer in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean War. After the Marine Corps, Bob started his career at Van Vlissingen and Company as a commercial real estate broker and rose to the title of Chairman. For over fifty years Bob was a highly respected leader in the Chicago Area commercial real estate brokerage, development and management community. Bob’s developments included the Oak Forest Industrial Park, the Palatine Expressway Industrial Park, the Northgate Industrial Center in Wheeling and in partnership with his son, Chuck Lamphere, the development of Lincolnshire Corporate Center, The Corporate Grove and The Corporate Woods in Southern Lake County. Bob served as president of the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and was a board member of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association.
A lifelong reader, dog lover, landscape designer, avid golfer and founding member of Bull Valley Golf Club, Bob was a proud alumnus and active supporter of the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Nanette Obriot Lamphere, his two children Chuck (Sarah) Lamphere, Vicki (John) Burchard, his four grandchildren Gordon, Duncan and Malcolm Lamphere and Elise Burchard, his half-sister Laura Lee Leff , many loved nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his brother Donald (Jacquelyn) Lamphere.
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, June 1, from 3 PM until the Celebration of Bob’s life at 6 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to Badger Fund, Kellner Hall, 1440 Monroe St., Madison, WI 53711.
