Robert Francis Lamping

Robert Francis Lamping, 89, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1935, in Chicago, IL to the late Adam and Magdalene Lamping.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served for 2 years from 1957 to 1959, most of which he was stationed in Germany.

After the Army, he attended and graduated in 1963 from Loyola University Chicago with a BA degree in Business Accounting. In 1965 he passed the CPA Exam. Robert was a Certified Public Accountant for an impressive 60 years, where he found immense joy in his work. His expertise and commitment made him a trusted advisor to countless clients, and he continued working well into his 80s, retiring just last year. Robert’s work ethic was legendary.

Outside of his professional life, Robert had a great passion for golf. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of “The Originals” golf league for 35 years. Whether it was enjoying a sunny afternoon at Makray Memorial Golf Course, competing with “The Originals” at Pine Crest Golf Course, or supporting various charity golf outings, Robert’s love for the game was matched only by his competitive spirit and camaraderie.

He is known for his patience, willingness to put others before himself, ability to always have kind words and jump in and assist those who were in Financial Trouble.

Robert is survived by his sons, Anthony (Pamela) and Christopher Lamping; his daughter, Judy Maney; his grandchildren, Garrett (fiancée Kelly Rickerson), Jordon, Austin, and Hannah Lamping; Brooke Peterson; Jamie and John Tyeptanar; his great-grandchildren, Corbin, Athena and Renley; his brother, George (Kat) Lamping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Lamping.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9 AM until the time of prayers at 10:30 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A procession will immediately follow to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, for the funeral Mass at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park, Crystal Lake.
