McHenry, Illinois,Robert Orlo Morehead, 88, of McHenry, entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his home. On September 17, 1922 in Belleville, WI, he was born to Orlo C. and Helen Ann (nee Fahey) Morehead. He married Geraldine "Geri" Schuster in 1951 and they spent the next 59 years raising their five children. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he earned a Certificate of Apprenticeship as a machinist before enlisting in the Merchant Marines, where he served during WWII. Throughout his career he worked in various positions and retired in 1982 from his position of General Manager for Dresser Industries. After retirement he received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University where he also earned a Master of Science. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He enjoyed boating, woodworking, landscaping, and his dogs. Robert was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. He will be missed by his loving children, William (Vikki), Patrick, Philip (Jo), Jane (Lee) McConnell, and James (Theresa); his cherished grandchildren, Vince Marquest, Kyle Ambroso, Beckyjo Bourgeois, Caitlyn and Kristen McConnell, Robert, Elizabeth, Michael and Luke Morehead; his treasured great-grandson, Nicolas Marques; and many dear nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Geri Morehead; his parents; his daughter-in-law Mary Elizabeth Morehead, brothers William and Harold Morehead, and a sister, Mina Haroldson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, from 10 a.m. until prayers at 12 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake, 60014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Boy Scouts of America, Blackhawk Area Council, PO Box 4085, Rockford, IL 61110-4085, or to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
