Robert "Bob" O'Donnell, 75, was a long time resident of Crystal Lake.
Born November 7, 1936 in Bronx, NY, he passed away Friday, November 2 at his home in Crystal Lake surrounded by his loving family and dear friends.
Bob, also known as "Bobby-Nice-Guy", had a 34 year career with Motorola. He was a salesman and sales manager in many divisions including international and national.
After retiring in 1998, he spent his time enjoying his hobbies including boating, snowmobiling, golfing and attending his grand-children's sports and activities.
Bob was a dedicated family man who was adored by all who knew him. He had an innate ability to tell a joke at the drop of a hat. He knew how to make everyone laugh. Bob loved entertaining his family and friends at his home. At his house, the door was always open. Bob's one of a kind personality touched all of us in some way. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Diane (nee Crysler); daughters, Colleen Stalo, Kassie (Mark) Toberman, and Karen (Gary) Gripentrog; grandchildren, Kristie (Tommy) Alford, R.J. and Scottie Stalo, Alex and Mick Toberman, and Drew and Troy Gripentrog; great-grandchildren, Jack and Molly Alford; and brothers Cornelius "Neal" and Arthur (Tricia).
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jim Stalo, his sister Nancy O'Donnell, and his parents, Cornelius and Genevieve (nee McCloskey) O'Donnell.
Memorial visitation will be from 2pm until the time of the memorial service at 6pm Friday, November 9 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
