Robert “Bob” W. Pleva, 84, of Cary, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Mayflower Nursing Home in Grinnell, Iowa.
He was born January 13, 1928 in Cary to the late Rudolph and Lillian Pleva. He married the late Doris Peterson on September 9, 1950 in Crystal Lake. Bob and Doris were married for 55 years.
Bob lived his entire life in Cary. He worked for Reilly-Lakeshore Electro Plating in Chicago until 1972 and, in 1975, started Bob’s Home Improvement in Cary. Bob was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake and enjoyed gardening, visiting the farm in Carney, Michigan, and church activities. Most of all, Bob loved the Lord, and his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Richard (Ruby) Pleva, Bobby (Sandi) Pleva, Diane (Dick) Tollberg, Patty (Paul) Barker, and Paul (Wendy) Pleva; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Rudy Pleva; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Doris, Bob was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barb Pleva.
The visitation will be Friday, November 16, from 3-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17 at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, 575 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. The burial will be private in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the Crystal Lake Evangelical Free Church.
