Robert was born August 2, 1928 in Chicago to Howard and Laura Snyder. He passed away peacefully February 18, 2017 in Long Grove at the age of 88.
Robert is survived by the Snyder nephews, Thomas (Judy), Lawrence (Carol), Robert C., and Steven (Candy), and the Skougor nieces, Nancy (Bordier), Susan (Odiseos), and Jane (Sparacino), and nephew Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Howard H. Snyder, and sisters, Lorraine Snyder and Dorothy Skougor.
He worked as a loan officer at the Barrington Savings and Loan for many years, having started his career in banking at Chicago Title and Trust. He graduated from Loyola Academy and attended Loyola University.
Robert enjoyed a good life that was filled with much laughter and love. He was most admired by his nephews who referred to him as “Uncle Wonderful” because of his ever-present sense of humor that brought any gathering to life. His pets were his best friends, whether they were dogs, birds, or cats. He had them all at one time or another. Most importantly, he was a good son. Robert provided support and love for his mother for many years until she passed away.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday, March 3 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake –Cook Rd), Barrington.
Prayers will be said at 9:45am, Saturday, March 4, at the funeral home, followed by a procession to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 135 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial in All Saints Catholic Cemetery will follow the mass.
