The funeral service for Robert P. Spicer,92, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 21, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road). Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Chicago.
The visitation will be from 3-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at the funeral home.
Born October 8,1918, in Chicago, he passed away Sunday, July 17,2011, at the Pepper Family Hospice Home in Barrington.
Mr. Spicer served five years in the Army and was a WWII veteran. He went on to work as a sales manager for the Robert Bartlett and Arthur T. McIntosh Realties, where he was an expert in all areas of real estate and real estate development.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and pinochle, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with this wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (nee Payne), whom he married September 4,1971, in Barrington; children, Robert P. (Pamela) Jr. of Sacramento, David (Mary) of Suwanee, GA, Philip (Linda) of Lisle, Steven (Karen) of Barrington, and Laurel (Bob) Podgorski of Cary; grandchildren, Robert, Rebecca, Richard, David, Jean, Shawn, Jessica, Katie, Philip, Kelly, Shannon, Ben, Jillian, and Henry; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (nee Doemland) Spicer, who passed away in 1970; parents, Emery and Hulda (nee Hubert); and brothers, Clarence, Walter, Edward, and his twin brother, William.
