Robert Fenton Stanton, 82, currently of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024. He was born on February 9, 1942, in Kortright, NY, to Ralph Stanton and Jenniemae (Hitt) Marshall.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Lisa (Willy) Deal of Rutherfordton, NC, Michele (Ray) Wehrs of Rutherfordton, NC, and Geoffrey (Rebecca) Paul of Venice, FL; his grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Deal, Nicole Wehrs, Ashley Wehrs, Anna Paul, and Kaytlyn Paul; and his great-grandchildren, Logan and Cody Deal.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Patricia Stanton, whom he married on May 27, 1989.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a long career in telecommunications with General Dynamics, Stromberg Carlson, and Nortel Networks.
A longtime resident of Crystal Lake, Bob was an active member of the community and made many lifelong friendships there. He and Patricia shared a love of travel, exploring the world together with cherished friends and family. A lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, Bob carried his enthusiasm for sports to Florida, where he begrudgingly came to appreciate the Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers after relocating in 2019.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, from 3pm until a eulogy service with military honors at 6:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A graveside service will be at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary at 11:30am on Monday, November 25. Please arrive at the funeral home by 11am if you would like to go on procession with the family.
