Robert S. Towne, 94, of Barrington passed away October 26, 2015. He was born September 22, 1921 in Chicago.
As a young man Robert joined the Army Air Force and served his country in WWII. He went on to work for IBM for 35 years working in various positions including manager, branch manager, recon center, and hiring in the service division.
Robert was a member of St. Anne Catholic Community and the VFW, Billy Caldwell Post, as a past commander. He served the city of Park Ridge on Citizens Patrol and was also a former chairman of Little League. Robert was very active and enjoyed biking and tennis, vacations, and woodworking.
He is survived by his children, Robert S. Towne, Thomas (Caprice) Towne, Bruce Towne, Steve (Annette) Towne, Eileen (Chris Emde) Towne-Emde, and Beth (Joe Lasare) Towne; step-children, Nancy Heinssen, Michael F. ( Bonnie) Hope, Stephen J. (Michelle Aaron) Hope, Mary Kay (George) Dixon, Linda (James) Ryan, and Christine (Artie) Beyhl; 13 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and over 25 great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Marion (Savage); his second wife of 21 years, Anne (Dwyer Hope); 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29th, from 3 pm 9 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St, Barrington. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St (not Ela Rd), Barrington, with a visitation starting at 9 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
