A Mass for Robert ""Bob"" Wagner, age 96, of Barrington since 1966, will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:30am, at St. Anne Church, corner of Ela and Franklin Streets, Barrington, where visitation will begin at 9:30am and continue until the time of Mass. The Most Rev. James P. Keleher will officiate. Entombment will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 3-8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake Cook Road) Barrington. Robert was born on September 30 1913 in Chicago and passed away on November 19, 2009 at the Addolorata Villa in Wheeling. He was a sales manager in the steel industry and worked for 35 years at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Corp. and 10 years at Republic Steel. He was a graduate of Harvard Business School. He attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star at The Battle of the Bulge. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Queen of Peace Council and St. Anne Church. Robert was a former member of the American Iron and Steel Institute. He was also an honorary life member and past president of the Wire Association. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth ""Betty"" Wagner nee Schmalzl; children Robert Jr. (Marguerite) of Cary and Mary Elizabeth Barton of North Glen, Co; grandchildren Robert III (Andrea) of S. Elgin, Robin Wagner of Grayslake, and Jamie Robertson of N. Glen, Co; great grandsons Gage and Ryan Duzak; brother Herbert J. Wagner and sister-in-law Margaret Funk of Oak Lawn. Preceding him in death were his parents Mathias and Cecilia (Franz) Wagner, sister Eileen Wagner, brother Eugene Wagner, and sister-in-law Anna Stacy.
