Robert (Bob) Frank Zabransky, Ph.D. born March 15, 1941, made his final journey to the Lord on Friday, August 13th. Visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010, from 4-9pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake Cook Road), Barrington. He will lie in state on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, from 9am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela Street (Corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington. Father Tom Bishop will officiate. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Dr. Bob was credited with numerous patents in natural gas research. Robert was also a professor at both UIC and IIT. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Bernadette, his sister, Carol Koslowski, mother-in-law, Bernadette Bell, sisters-in-law, Roberta Zabransky and Eileen Haynes, 10 nieces and nephews, 12 grand nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends, and his beloved hunting buddies, Chief and Livvy. Robert was a past president of the Chicago Chapter AIChE, an Eagle Scout, an AKC field trial judge and an avid sportsman who especially enjoyed training, handling and competing with his bird dogs. Robert?s outgoing personality, exceptional wit and quick mind made him a welcome and popular addition to professional and social activities. He especially enjoyed his a.m. coffee group at Ambrosia. He will be greatly missed for many reasons ? but especially for his support and encouragement to teens regarding achieving educational excellence.
