Robert “Bob” Sweeney, 71, of Fox River Grove, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2020. He was born on August 20, 1948 in Pottsville, PA to the late Robert A. and Eleanor (nee Perlack) Sweeney.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife, Debbie (nee Fischer); their children, Stephanie and Alexander Sweeney; furry companions, Kodi the white dog, Zorro and Denali. He touched a lot of people’s lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen.
He grew up in the Chicago-land area, received his bachelors from NIU, and later went on to receive his Master's from DePaul University. In his career he created many different relationships, of which he excelled. Starting in sales and marketing he built his career to the executive level through working in many types of business including healthcare and IT. Through his 50 year career, he created some meaningful long-lasting relationships that would turn into good friendships for life.
While being an excellent caretaker and loving husband he found a way to enjoy the little things in life. Whether it be fishing, photography, home improvement, or wood-working, he always found a way to keep busy and enjoy the wonderful life he built. Bob found ways to experience all he could, travelling the globe and immersing himself in different locales, and enjoying every opportunity to try food of the area. His passion was not only to travel to all 50 states, but to make sure his family and he took every opportunity to learn about history and culture as well. Some of his favorite trips were travelling to National Parks. His most cherished trips included Yellowstone, and Great Smokey Mountain National Parks. Bob had many other interests in his beautiful life, football being a passion of his that was shared with his family, and many friends. His favorite teams he cheered on were the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020 from 9 AM until the funeral mass at 11 AM at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.) Barrington. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
