Robert (Bud) Parrish, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 29, 1940 in Elgin to Melvin (Casey) and Frieda Parrish. He was a 4th generation resident of Crystal Lake.
Bud graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, he spent his entire career in the construction industry. He was the founder and owner of Parrish Paving, Inc. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Miller, and they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Upon retirement, Bud remained active in the community and pursued his hobby of restoring antique trucks and hot rods. In his free time, he enjoyed auctions, car shows, and his grandchildren’s activities. For the past 17 years he and his wife wintered in their home in Pine Island, FL. Bud was large in stature and personality and made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Anne (Joe) Poland, Rob (Lori) Parrish, Mary (Ed) Hamblin, Holly (Randy) Berke, and Tim (Holly) Parrish; grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle Poland, Casey Parrish, Lynsey and Ally Hamblin, Taylor and Lexi Berke, and Jordan and JJ Parrish. Bud is further survived by his sisters, Alice and Elaine, who reside in Florida.
He is preceded in death by several relatives including his parents and brothers, Larry and Jim.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and Family Health Partnership Clinic all located in Crystal Lake.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 30th, from 3 pm until 8 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal Lake. A memorial service will be held the next day, Satruday, July 31st, at 10 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church gymnasium, 300 Pathway Ct, Crystal Lake.
