Robert “Roger” Clayton Scholle, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born August 16, 1934 in Chicago, the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (nee Wold) Scholle.
Roger was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Greely, Alaska. Roger spent his career working in the printing trade, where he became the Lead Press Operator. He started his career at the Continental Can Company and later was employed at Bruce Offset for 19 years. He took great pride in mentoring the new pressman that entered the field.
He was known as the “Mayor” of his neighborhood and was a regular practical jokester. He was also a member of the “Crookedstick Gang” and “Wendy’s Senior Social Society”
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Roger is survived by his daughters, Roxann (Robert) Bankert and Laura (Paul) Luoma; his grandchildren, “The Wolf Pack” Quinten, Preston, Trenton and Dayton Luoma; his step grandchildren, Justin, Jestina, Jenna, Jecinda, and Jared Bankert, and “I know I know” Elizabeth Bower; and many nieces and nephews, Diana, Sandra, David, and John Gaebel, Troy Schulten; including his very close nephew “good buddy” Tod Schulten; and by his former wife, Darlene F. Nicholson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving partner, Sandra R. Anderson; his infant daughter, Eva Simone Scholle; his former wife, Louise Gatza; his siblings, George Gaebel, Leroy Gaebel, Jean Schulten, Lucille Scholle, and Norman Scholle; and his nephew, Ted Schulten.
All are welcome for a memorial gathering on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 9:30 AM until the Celebration of Roger’s life at 11:30 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
