Rohit Mandava

Rohit Mandava, 24, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2025. He was born on February 14, 2001 in Hoffman Estates, IL to Vijay and Anuradha Mandava.

For those of us who know Rohit, he only operated at two speeds – 0 or 100 and there was never anything in between. He lived that ethos of “Work Hard, Play Harder” throughout his time at the University of Texas graduating in May of 2023. He continued that ethos at Greenhill & Co, NY working as an Investment Banking Analyst since June 2023.

He was passionate about running, working out and traveling the world and motivated his friends. His adventurous travel pursuits began from his Study Abroad semester in Budapest traveling across Europe every weekend with his friends that he went on multiple solo backpacking trips to Asia and Africa before he joined Greenhill.

Rohit’s other passion since childhood was sports and one of the reasons that he went to Texas where he frequently attended football games Home and Away with his friends and never missed the “Red River Showdown” during his time over there.

In Summer of 2024, Rohit registered for the Ironman Muncie June 2025 to set a goal for himself to complete it before he started his career as a Private Equity Associate at GTCR, coming home to Chicago in August 2025.

This was when tragedy struck, and Rohit started experiencing pain behind his eyes and between the eyes which came out of the blue. He started visiting doctors and tried to battle it out until he finished his commitment to complete the Ironman 70.3 New York Relay with his high school friends, in which he did the running part despite the pain.

Since then, he has gone through multiple specialists and pain management options which did not result in a satisfactory outcome. Finally, pain got the better of him. Until the very last day he lived his life on his own terms and to the fullest. Rohit rarely voiced his love for extended family aloud, but he always cherished them deeply and often shared it with his friends and colleagues.

In addition to his parents, Rohit is survived by his sister, Meghana Mandava. May his soul rest in peace.
