Ronald A. Mortimer, 78, of Crystal Lake, was born March 4, 1938 in Wonewoc, WI to Ronald C. and Virgie (nee King) Mortimer. He passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Ron spent his career as an owner/operator in the trucking industry before his retirement at age 67. His favorite pastime was building pig roasters and hosting parties for family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laura (nee Erckfritz) Mortimer; his children, Chrissy (Andy) Harris and Shawn (Loria) Mortimer; his step-sons, L.D. (Wendy) Jackson, and Larry (Donna) Jackson; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, LaRene (Evan) Hanko and Ed (JoAnn) Mortimer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive guests from 5pm until time of funeral service at 8:30pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., (Rt 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment private.
