Ronald Damgaard

The funeral service for Ronald Rolighed Damgaard,80, will be held at 10:00 a.m.,Tuesday, June 19, at The Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 Brinker Road, Barrington Hills, where there will be visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  The Reverend Dan Spike will officiate.  Interment will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.

There will also be a visitation from 4-9 p.m., Monday, June 18, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.

Born April 27,1932, to the late Otto and Mary (nee Rolighed) Damgaard, he died Monday, June 11,2012, at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.

Mr.Damgaard received his civil engineering degree from Iowa State University, and went on to own Otto Damgaard Sons, Inc.,Damgaard Landscape Management and Kaneville Tree Farms, Inc.  He enjoyed sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his loving daughters, Laura Damgaard of Oak Park, Nancy (Scott) Wahl of San Diego, and Paula (Paul) Guzzetta of Oak Park; cherished grandchildren, Kelly and Katherine Wahl, and Max, Eric, and Jack Guzzetta; sister-in-law, Elaine Damgaard of Tucson; brother-in-law, Judson (Connie) Briggs of Moline; and nieces and nephews, Kristine, Karen, and Karl and Kim, Judson, and Bruce.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Damgaard was preceded in death by his wife, Sara, whom he married October 5,1957, in Galesburg; and brother, Kenneth Damgaard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PLANET AEF (please note Ron Damgaard Memorial Scholarship), 950 Herndon Parkway, Ste. 450, Herndon, VA 20170.  Ron was a long-time supporter of PLANET AEF, which provides scholarships to students in the landscaping industry.
