Ronald “Ron” Paffi, of Crystal Lake, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the age of 68.
He was born May 16, 1947 in Chicago to Peter and Tillie (nee Smith) Paffi.
Ron was a graduate of Fenger High School in Chicago and attended Wright Junior College. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Ron married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Makselan in 1968 and together they raised 3 daughters. He was employed with McDonald’s for over 30 years. Ron was an avid sports fan, specifically the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and the Cubs. He also enjoyed Indy Car racing, traveling with his family, musical theater, and loved spending time with his grandkids. Ron was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Assembly of God in Crystal Lake. He touched many lives through his involvement with Crystal Lake South Band Boosters, Marinette Jaycees, and Barrington McDonald’s.
In addition to his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara, Ron is survived by his children, Renee (Paul) Miller of Marinette, Wisconsin, Tammy (Todd) Clausen of Union Star, Missouri, and Noel Paffi, of Crystal Lake; grandchildren; Tyler, Nathan, Peyton, Hannah, and Devlin; brother, Henry (Gerri) Paffi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Garret.
The visitation will be held Sunday, July 12, from 3-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rte 176) Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue the following day, Monday, July 13, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Calvary Assembly of God, 5906 S Route 31, Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
