Ronald D. Walima, I

Ronald D. Walima, I, 74, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in McHenry. He was born December 24, 1942 in Waterloo, IA to Albert and Mabel (nee Scofield) Walima.

Ron served in the US Navy for 6 years as a Corpsman.  He retired after 40 years of service fron Navistar Int. on February 27, 2009, where he worked as a timekeeper.  In his younger years he enjoyed serving with the McHenry County ESDA and as a part time police office for the Village of Lake in the Hills and auxiliary police office with the Village of Carpentersville.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrie (nee Ultsch) Walima; his children, Ron (girlfriend Mary Laramie) Walima, II and Lisa Birkhoff; his grandchildren, Robert, Gabby, Katie, Jordyn, Trevor, Logan, Madison and Michael, and his siblings, Michelle (Jim) Cielinski and Gloria (Ron) Barkosky.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Jessica Jean Walima, parents Albert and Mabel (Nee Scofield) Walima, Inlaws Walter and Lorraine (Nee Knudson) Ultsch, Son in Law Darrell Birkhoff and Brother and Sister in Law Greg and Joyce Ultsch.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3 pm until time of memorial service at 6pm, Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, 575 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family or Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake.
