Inverness, Illinois,Services for Ronna Lou Griffin nee Alexander, 73, of Inverness, will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Willow Creek Community Church Chapel, 67 E. Algonquin Rd, South Barrington, where she will lie in state from 9 am until the time of the service. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm , Monday, November 23, 2009 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. Born April 12, 1935, in Madison, WI, she passed away peacefully November 19, 2009 at her home. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Ronna was a loving and faithful wife to Jack and a devoted "GG" to her six cherished grandchildren, a special mom and friend to Jay, Gary and their wives. In addition to being an active member of Willow Creek Community Church, offering her time and many talents, she was a prayer warrior and a devoted follower of our Lord. She enjoyed Hawaiian Trips, Traveling, Playing Tennis, Gourmet Cooking, Snow Skiing and Hiking. She is survived by her husband, John J. "Jack" Griffin II whom she married June 2, 1956 in Madison, WI; her son, Gary (Lynette) Griffin of Barrington, a daughter-in-law Petrine Griffin of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren, John J. "JJ" (Hayley) Griffin IV, Christian, Danielle "Dani", Austin, Caleb and Jeremiah "Miah" Griffin; a great-grandson John J. Griffin V; a brother Roger (Mary) Alexander; two nephews, Eric (Nez) and Jason Alexander. She was preceded in death by her son, John J. "Jay" Griffin III; her parents, Edwin and Gudrin (nee Lunde) Alexander. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675-8517.
