Rosemary Agnes (Bremner) Maude

May 10, 1931 — December 15, 2017

Rosemary Agnes Maude, 86, was born in Chicago, IL to the late Robert and Agnes Bremner on May 10, 1931, and passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

She was united in marriage on June 6, 1953 to the love of her life: Michael Francis Maude in St. Vincent de Paul’s Church in Chicago. They celebrated 61 loving years of marriage until his death in 2014. She was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception in Chicago, St. Anne Catholic Church in Barrington, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Osprey, FL.

At a very young age, Rosemary lost both of her parents, but she was able to overcome that obstacle as a young woman. She attended St Michael’s Parish and was a cheerleader at their high-school. After graduation, she attended secretarial school, where she became a secretary and did modeling on the side.  Soon after she caught the eye of Michael Maude, while in church: and they married shortly thereafter. When Michael started Patterson Construction Company, it was Rosemary who was its 1st and only Secretary until the demands of child rearing became too much.

Within 9 months their 1st child was born and thereafter 9 more children were as well.

Michael & Rosemary lived on Bissell & Patterson streets in Chicago, Peterson street in Norwood Park, Cuba & Sutton Roads in Barrington and Casey Key Road in Osprey Florida. In Norwood Park, Rosemary became active in the Immaculate Conception Women’s Club and performed in plays and skits and was also an active Den Mother for the Cub Scouts – even while pregnant. She sewed the most beautiful Halloween outfits for her children as well as the clothes for the girls Barbie Dolls.

In Barrington, Rosemary became a full-time chauffer driving the 10 children to all of their many activities. Mike & Rosemary joined Biltmore Country Club because Mike was an avid golfer and Rosemary learned to play there as well. In fact, she was quite proud to tell you the story of her hole in one on that course.  The children attended camps, learned to swim, play golf, tennis and gather afterward on the beach for family meals.

After the 10th child was born, Rosemary became active in St. Anne’s Women’s Club and became President of the Barrington Chapter Lyric Opera of Chicago, and joined the The Garden Club of Barrington. Michael and Rosemary split their later years between Illinois and Florida.  They loved playing golf at Biltmore and the Oaks Club (Osprey, FL) where they also danced, laughed and told stories with their many friends.

Rosemary embraced wearing colorful and sparkling attire with hats, and had a beautiful voice with which she sang in Sunday Mass, car rides with the family and also while watching classic musicals. She also enjoyed playing the nickel slot machines.

Rosemary was a very kind and compassionate person who loved hosting dinners at home for family, friends and the recruits from the Naval Station Great Lakes at Thanksgiving and Christmas time.  She demanded full family attendance at Sunday Mass and encouraged us to be generous in giving our time and money to those in need.

Rosemary loved and adored her 10 children and 22 grand-children and 6 step grand-children and looked forward to the birth of her 1st great grandchild in May of 2018.

Rosemary is survived by her loving children, Timothy (Heike nee Menzel) and their two children, T.J and Juliana; Susan; Colleen (Bill) Noyes and their four children, Amelia, Jack, Meghan and Victoria; Michael (Kim nee Tunnell) and his three children, Michael (Emily Rose), Benjamin, Emily and their stepchildren TJ and Rachel; Brian (Nancy nee Von Laven) and their four children, Caroline, Daniel, Casey and Cathleen; Regina (George) McCarthy and their three children, Colin (Marta Cebrian Plazas), Dylan and Tara; Martin (Marita nee Driscoll) and their four children, McKenzie, Ryan, Kieran and Emmett; James; David (Laura nee Isaacs) and their stepchildren Charles, Leonard, Isabel & William); and Erin and her two sons, Liam and Finn. She is also survived by her half-sister, Susan Bremner.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert, Frank and infant Raymond and her sister Marie Cummings and her step mother Martha Bremner and half brother Patrick.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM on Monday, December 18, at Davenport Family Funeral Home 149 West Main Street (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday, December 19, at 10:30 AM at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, where there will be visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.
