Rosemary Elizabeth Ruda, 64, of Fox River Grove, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016. She was born on March 22, 1951 in Evergreen Park, IL to Thomas P. and Catherine (nee Cahill) McMahon.
Rosemary received her Master’s degree in Special Education from Northeastern University. She was a special education teacher for more than 25 years, most recently at Harrison Dist. 36 in Wonder Lake until her retirement in 2008. Rosemary was a member of Joyful Journey Bible Group at St. Peter United Church of Christ as well as Friends of Fox River Grove Public Library. She also was a committed volunteer at Good Shepherd Hospital, was an avid gardener, loved painting and decorating. She especially was a dog lover and will be greatly missed by her furry friend, Snuggles.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 25 years, Mark Ruda; sisters Kathleen O'Connor, Patricia Raucci, Eileen Runtz, Margaret Bartz and Marilynn Kennedy; brothers James, Terence and Timothy; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas.
Before moving to Fox River Grove in 1994, Rosemary lived in Arlington Heights, Libertyville, Fox Lake, Harvard, Oak Park and Chicago.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 3 PM until the 7 PM memorial service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosemary’s name to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122, would be appreciated.
