Roy James Du Lock,85, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Chicago, died Monday, September 12,2011, at Wauconda Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre.
He was born January 14,1926, in Paw Paw, MI, the last of 12 siblings, to the late Stephen and Anna (nee Belan), Du Lock. He now joins them in heaven.
He met Julia “Julie” L. Estrello at a neighborhood wedding and danced the night away. They married September 4,1954, in Chicago.
Roy lived the majority of his life in Chicago. Active in his youth, he was a lifeguard at North Avenue Beach in Chicago and was an award-winning singer and harmonica player on the Morris B. Sachs amateur-hour radio and television shows in Chicago.
He retired from GTE (Automatic Electric) of North Lake in 1991 after working there for 41 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Lodge No. 50. Mr. Du Lock was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Victoria (Du Lock) Rook of McHenry and Christopher (Debra) Du Lock of Cary; and grandchildren, April Joy Rook and Nicholas and Brandon Du Lock. He was a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 17, from 9 a.m. until the time of transfer prayers at 11:15 a.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, proceeding to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake for a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
