Russell Anthony Drost

Russell Anthony Drost, age 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Russell was born in Chicago, IL on March 27, 1957. Russel worked for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for over 20 years.  He then went on to be a bus driver for district 15 for 10 years.  He was an avid lover of music, movies, reading, history, and trains. He also loved to drive and would volunteer to take people into Chicago just to give him a chance to drive there. Russ was a cancer survivor of over 30 years.  He loved taking long walks with his children and his dogs.

Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dawn Drost (nee Klages); sons, Nicholas (Sara) Drost and Michael Drost; grandchildren, Eleanor, Valorie, Wynne; siblings, James; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Alice Drost; brother, Stephen Drost; and sister, Gail (Bob) Kazmierczak.

A visitation for Russell will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. A second visitation will be held the following morning at the funeral home from 9am until the service at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell’s name may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society  (givenow.lls.org).
