The funeral service for Samuel McCurry Crutchfield, 56, of Palatine, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, 1122 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, a reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be private. Pastor Randy Thompson and Pastor Eddie Lechner will officiate.
Born October 23, 1956, in Pomona, CA he passed away peacefully April 16, 2013 at his home.
Sam was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked at UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Bensenville but his true love was his music and work in Christian Ministry. He enjoyed writing Christian music, listening to worship music, and teaching the Word. Sam was a member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and was a former Deacon and Worship Leader at Christian Assembly of Barrington.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Mae (Hammergren Polnaszek), whom he married April 25, 1998 in Elk Grove Village; children, Joshua Paul (Diana) Polnaszek, Valarie Crutchfield, Nathan (Jessica Eck) Lechner, and Megan Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Samantha Conkel, Luke Lechner, and Dayton Goodman; his mother, Judy Crutchfield; brothers, Jeffrey (Denise) Crutchfield, Hank Kaestner, and James Pierson; sister, Lisa (Brandon) Padilla; and nephew, Brandon Padilla II.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mack McCurry Crutchfield and his daughter –in- law, Lauren Hartnett.
