Scott Everett Smith, 67, of Cary passed away on November 29, 2023. He was born on December 14, 1955, and later adopted by Wade and Rosemary (Piccolo) Smith in Chicago.
On June 11, 1977, Scott married the love of his life, Mary Carlson, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. After several years they settled in Cary, a town they’ve called home for many years.
Scott's passion for computers wasn't just a hobby; it shaped his career and brought joy to his life. But his interests didn't stop there - he was an avid lover of cars, and he enjoyed model railroads and R/C cars and airplanes. Scott had a gift for tinkering and fixing things, a skill he applied with patience and precision.
Scott's sense of humor was larger than life. He was the king of dad jokes and puns, always ready with a quip to lighten the mood or ease a tense moment. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to use humor to bring calm to any situation was truly a gift.
His faith and church community were pillars in his life. He served the church community in many capacities through the years, from youth ministries, to properties and maintenance, to congregational care. It was in this nurturing environment that he cultivated friendships that would last a lifetime.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his sons, Jeff (Renee) and Ryan (Audrey); his cherished grandchildren, Nathan, Elena, Mallory, and Colette; and his sister, Peg (Ron) Baker.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
